Tau Nu Omega will endeavor to educate the South Bronx community on the important contributions of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and encourage college-bound students to consider attending an HBCU, using a two-prong approach: historically and the "here and now." To that end, Tau Nu Omega will host two HBCU Forums, one in the Winter/Spring and one in the Summer/Fall.
In collaboration with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Educational Advancement Fund, Tau Nu Omega will proactively fundraise for HBCUs. Moreover, Tau Nu Omega will specifically fundraise for Delaware State University (an HBCU) and promote donations on AKA HBCU Impact Day, held in September.
Through Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® signature program, #CAP (SM) Tau Nu Omega will partner with a South Bronx high school to assist students seeking admission to college by providing guidance and support and demystifying the college application and enrollment process. This educational initiative will extend to all colleges and universities, both HBCUs and non-HBCUs.
Tau Nu Omega will engage high school students in the South Bronx through informational forums on the college admissions process, the process of applying for financial aid, college tours, and scholarship opportunities.
The HBCU4Life #CAP Book Scholarship is sponsored by the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Tau Nu Omega Chapter of South Bronx, New York. The book scholarship is a onetime payment designed to provide $250.00 to offset the cost of college expenses related to academics.
Book Scholarship recipients will be able to purchase required books for the classes they are enrolled in for the fall of 2022. The scholarship is awarded to two high school seniors accepted to a four year college or university. DEADLINE IS THURSDAY, JUNE 30, 2022.
